NEW BARN FARM, HURSTBOURNE PRIORS, HAMPSHIRE
Completed in 2009, the development consists of the conversion of a historic farmyard into 7 luxury family houses, located within the Green Belt outside the market town of Whitchurch.
Showcasing the original structures was the strategic aim for the project. Combining these with highly contemporary fixtures and fittings became a defining characteristic of the development throughout.
The heating and hot water systems are powered by an energy efficient air-to-water heat pump that provides thermostatically controlled hot water, under floor heating to the ground floors and radiators to the upper floors. The heating system is 40% more efficient than a traditional oil fired system with 50% fewer CO² emissions.
The new landscaping consists of indigenous trees and shrub planting, paved patio areas, gravelled private drives and patios accessed via reclaimed gates. The common areas include a renovated duck pond, which incorporates a storm water levelling system, a duck house and adjacent visitors parking.
